What are group sessions?

These sessions with 1 tutor and multiple students. They’re typically tailored towards students who are in the middle of their exam preparation and need more guidance on high-yield topics, what to focus on and how to approach more complicated questions.

The typical format of a group session will look like this:

  • Brief introduction

  • Go over goal of the session as well as what topics we plan on finishing

  • USMLE Questions breakdown, which will include:

    • How to approach different question styles

    • How to eliminate wrong answers

    • Question topic explanation using diagrams and mind-maps

  • Practice questions for everyone to do

  • Open Q&A

You will get the most benefit from this session if you interact more in the session with the tutor and other students. These sessions are designed to allow discussions and interactions between the students that is guided by the tutor.

Should I do group sessions?

What are the benefits of doing sessions in groups? Here are a few key advantages:

Exposure to different ways of thinking

Probably the most important advantage to doing the session in a group setting. By studying with other students, you can see what’s working for them and see if it’ll help you as well. Additionally, what you are doing could help improve another student as well.

Learn from others’ mistakes

Often, most students have the same common misconceptions or are doing the same mistake in exam preparation or question approach. By being exposed to other students’ mistakes, you are less likely to do them.

More interactive session

More participants means more interactions, and not just between the tutor and student. You will be encouraged to interact with other students to make the session more useful for everyone.

Accountability and motivation

Having other students with you in the session spurs competitiveness and makes you more accountable to be ready for the next session. This way, there is an added motivation for you to study and work harder if you feel you are behind your peers.

COsts Less

The price for the group sessions are dynamic, the more students that sign up the less expensive it will be per student. And it will be less expensive than 1-on-1 private sessions.

Why Pick Group sessions over 1-on-1 sessions?

First, both types of sessions are great and neither one is more superior than the other. It depends on your needs and what you want to do. Here’s a quick comparison between both:
